At my visit vet we put our love for pets and their owners into all that we do.

Meet the Team

Luke Ainsworth
BVSc MRCVS

Luke qualified from Bristol University in 2005 and has been working in practice ever since.

After a year in mixed practice, he focussed on companion animals and has worked across the UK (and briefly Australia) in a wide variety of practices moving up to being clinical director. Luke has been interested in the idea of opening a mobile vet clinic since seeing a friend from university open a mobile vet clinic some time ago. Having seen the benefits it can bring to reducing stress in our patients and providing a more personal service to clients has now prompted him to take the plunge and open this clinic.

Luke has keen interests in soft tissue surgery, dermatology and internal medicine, and is well on his way towards completing a small animal internal medicine certificate through Liverpool University.

Mel Evans
Registered Veterinary Nurse

Mel has, for as long as she can remember, wanted to work with animals. She completed a biology degree in 1997, then decided to pursue a career in veterinary nursing and qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2000.

Since then she has pursued in more depth various aspects of her vocation including obtaining a city and guilds in small animal nutrition, a behaviour certificate and the vetsnow emergency and critical care certificate.

She enjoys learning and keeping up to date on the latest developments in the veterinary field. This allows for her and her colleagues to provide the best care to our patients.

The patient is always the priority with Mel and she will always do her best to make them feel safe and as comfortable as possible while in her care.

She has two cats named Freddie and Joe. They are brothers and keep her on her toes at home.

Liz Vickers
Receptionist

Liz has been a veterinary receptionist since 2015.

Liz was born and bred in Bolton and still lives there with her partner Dan.

A lifelong animal lover, having grown up around horses and dogs all of her life, she enjoys working in the veterinary industry as she could talk about animals all day and enjoys offering support in any way to pet parents.

Her and her partner currently have 4 dogs - Polly who is a Jack Russell terrier cross, Lottie the lurcher, Blossom who is a lurcher and Merlin who is, you guessed it, a lurcher as well. Notice a theme there?

She also has 2 rescue Shetland ponies called Daisy and Primrose, and a bearded dragon named storm fly.

When she isn't caring for all of these pets she enjoys lots of crafty things such as crochet and sewing.

As a self confessed nerd she also enjoys playing dungeons and dragons or board games with her friends

Peggy

Peggy came to live with Luke after failing in her former career as a security dog. It seems she loves the good life too much to have to work! She now thoroughly enjoys pet life. Long walks ending up in a pub beer garden where she can get attention from strangers are her favourite pastime!

Amos

Amos was handed in as a stray before we decided to take him in. He’s timid at first but loves a good fuss once he’s got to know you. He’s very happy to snuggle down on our lap while we watch TV most of the time, but can switch it up at the drop of a hat to dart around the room for his ‘mad half hour!’
